Veronica Mary Rolf, award-winning author, popular podcaster, and teacher of Christian Meditation, will present a series of reflections on men and women of sacred Scripture who received divine revelations, responded to those revelations, and realized great blessings. These reflections will be based on her book, Suddenly There is God: The Story of Our Lives in Sacred Scripture, which won the 2020 Catholic Media Association Book Award for Scripture.

Biblical Mystics were ordinary people just like us who hoped, feared, struggled, and questioned: Abraham, Moses, Mary and Joseph, Martha and Mary of Bethany, Mary Magdalene, and Paul. They did not live easy lives, nor were they free of suffering. But because these men and women listened to the divine call, then responded to it, they experienced abundant blessings on the mystical path.

These mystics can be so relevant to all of us right now – in the midst of our own difficult life choices, the divisiveness in our world, the catastrophic pandemic. We can learn from them how divinity continues to reveal itself to us. Biblical Mystics may become our spiritual guides, helping us to be more attentive to our own personal call, response, and blessings.

Veronica Mary Rolf is an independent scholar, retreat leader, and longtime member of WCCM. She is the author of Suddenly There is God: The Story of Our Lives in Sacred Scripture (Cascade Books, 2019) and its companion volume, Living Resurrected Lives (Cascade Books, 2020), co-authored with Eva Natanya, PhD.
